The Groovy Cocos Journey: Miami's Original, Branded Live Coconut Experience
At Groovy Cocos, it all started with a simple idea: bring something fun, refreshing, and memorable to events through fresh young coconuts.
I've always loved the beach, tropical culture, serving people, and creating experiences that bring people together. What began as a passion project for fresh coconuts quickly turned into something bigger when I realized there was an opportunity to offer something completely different from traditional catering. Instead of simply serving a drink, we created a live coconut station - where guests could watch their coconut being cracked open on the spot, customized with a logo or message, and served with genuine hospitality.
In the beginning, we were serving small gatherings of around 40 guests. I was personally handling every detail - from sourcing coconuts, branding them by hand, setting up events, and growing our brand through marketing. Every event taught us something new and helped shape the experience that Groovy Cocos has become today.
As word spread, so did the opportunities. What started as a side hustle serving intimate events grew into a full-service coconut catering company serving weddings, luxury events, corporate activations, sporting events, festivals, and celebrations with more than 300 guests throughout South Florida. Along the way, Groovy Cocos grew from a one-man operation into a dedicated team of three!
One of the things that sets us apart is our custom hand-branded coconuts. Whether it's a company logo, wedding monogram, product launch, or creating a completely custom design from scratch with our talented graphic designer, we love helping our clients create something unique that their guests will remember. There's nothing better than seeing people’s faces light up when they receive a personalized coconut - and then immediately pull out their phone to take a picture for their Instagram.
While we've grown significantly, our approach hasn't changed. We still believe that great service, elite-level responsiveness, attention to detail, and pure hustle are what make an event special. Every coconut we serve represents a lot of hard work, creativity, and passion. What started as a spark of an idea has grown into a recognized name in Miami's coconut event industry, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us along the way.
